Moderating Effects on Residents’ Willingness in Waste Sorting to Improve Waste Handling in Dammam City, Saudi Arabia

While the total amount of municipal solid waste (MSW) in Dammam city was about 13 million tons 2013, it is expected to reach 18.4 2025. Although main problem an increase production without any formal treatment except landfilling, lack segregation greatly affects residents’ handling practices due incorrect disposing practices. The objective this study explored possibility participation sorting and recycling improve MSW measure influence psychological factors which affecting willingness participate regarding socioeconomic levels moderating effects. This also examined various respondents’ perspectives on sustainable generation. covered most communities, with a gender distribution 56% males 44% females monthly income ranging from SR700 SR12,000. descriptive analysis showed that 450 participants, 170 (37.8%) were middle-income levels, 199 (44.2%) high-income 81 (18%) low-income levels. effect observed between attitude sort recycle groups.
